 The Constuction Department is reponsible for enforcement and  issuing all construction permits in accordance with the NJ Uniform Construction Code.
  • INSPECTION SCHEDULING\
    • All Inspection requests except for minor work permits must be made in writing as per NJAC 5:23-2.18(c)1
    • The following information is needed on your request:
      1. Owner or Agent
      2. Telephone Number
      3. Permit number, Block & Lot numbers
      4. Work Site Location 
      5. Requested Inspection
      6. Date Requested
    • You may schedule an inspection 4 ways
      1. scheduled online through the SDL Citizen & Contractor Portal. Creating an account is easy if you don’t already have one. To create an account to use the SDL Citizen & Contractor Portal
      2. E-Mail Construction@mendhamnj.org
      3. In person during normal business days/hours.
      4. Place your written request in our 24-hour dropbox located at the front door of the Bower’s Building – 6 West Main St – Mendham Borough,
      5. Arrival inspection times may vary due to the number of inspections scheduled and unforeseen issues. Please allow time for earlier or later arrivals.
  • PERMIT PAYMENTS & REFUNDS
    • Mail or drop off payments at the 24 hour dropbox.
      • The Box is located next to the front door of the Bowers Building, 6 W Main St, Mendham NJ  07945
      • Check or Money Order must be payable to the Borough of Mendham
    • Permit Refund
      • If you cancel your project and do not want to proceed with the permit, a refund may be requested. 
      • Refunds are less 20 percent for application/plan review. 
      • Refunds require approval by Council reosolution.
      • Depending on the meeting schedule of Counicl and timming of a request for a refund the process may take up to 60-90 days.
  • INSPECTORS & INSPECTION SCHEDULES
    • Times may vary the day of your inpsection due to the number of inspections scheduled and unforseen issues.
    • Please allow time for earlier or later arrivals.
